Nicutools is built so a clinician can use it at the bedside without sending anyone’s data anywhere. This page describes exactly what does and does not happen when you use the website or the iOS app.

The short version

What we store on your device

Both the website and the iOS app remember a small amount of state so the experience persists between visits. This data stays on your device.

On the website this is stored in your browser’s localStorage. On the iOS app it is stored in the app’s sandboxed local storage. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app removes it.

What we never store

Website analytics

The website loads Google Tag Manager (container GTM-NG8NTM9) to record aggregated usage information:

This information is used to understand which calculators are popular and to improve the site. It is not linked to a personal identity and it is never combined with calculator inputs or results, because those values never leave your browser. Google’s handling of this data is governed by their own privacy policy.

Usage counters (nicutools.org)

The website also sends anonymous usage counters to stats.nicutools.org, a service we run ourselves. It records only two things:

Each record contains the calculator’s short name (for example oxygenation-index), the app version, the word web, and a timestamp. A two-letter country code is derived from the network connection itself; it is never sent by the app. Nothing else is transmitted, and the calculator’s short name is drawn from a fixed internal list — there is no way for a value you type to be included.

No IP addresses, browser or device details, user identifiers, or cookies are stored. The counters cannot be linked to you, to a session, or to each other. If you are offline the counters wait in your browser and are sent on a later visit.

The iOS app contains no analytics SDK and makes no analytics calls.

Network calls

The website makes the following network calls on a typical visit:

The iOS app makes the following network calls:

Children

Nicutools is for qualified healthcare professionals and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If anything material changes — analytics behaviour, or a feature that transmits data — this page and the date at the top will be updated. Changes describe new behaviour only; they are never applied retroactively to an earlier visit.
